Karatta Wines is owned by David & Peg Woods, wine lovers who established their farm, Griffin Pastoral Company, in 1975. Today, they strive to craft wines that encapsulate their unique piece of ancient seabed soils, maritime winds, and cool temperatures. Their Robe vineyards are truly exceptional examples of Australian terroir located in Robe, a maritime sub-region of the Limestone Coast, half-way between Adelaide and Melbourne.

They make estate-grown wines and are committed to the production of ready to drink, age-worthy
wines that authentically reflect the maritime climate characterized by lithe, elegant reds and crisp, snappy whites.

Alice Davidson is the winemaker and is brimming with passion and vigor, with winemaking experience from McLaren Vale to Canada’s Oakanagen Valley. “Wineries are like a big kitchen and I love cooking,” she says, “You feel like you’re cooking recipes when you’re making wines. Winemaking has so much more to offer in that it’s very scientific. There’s the connection to the earth and where the grapes are grown and climate. Then there’s the creative side, the cooking.”
